Planners are storytellers and are always looking for ways to effectively communicate plans, regulations, and other sometimes complex concepts and ideas. Included in our planner toolbox are a number of graphic tools that we feel can be utilized by planners to help better communicate with their audiences. We've highlighted some of them below: Tilt-Shift MakerTiltshift Maker is a free tool that allows you to upload an image that is then manipulated to transform it into a tiltshift photo. Giving the appearance of a miniature city or streetscape, tiltshifts can be attractive and thought-provoking to your audience. Infogr.am Infographics can be very useful to planners and their audiences. Infogr.am allows planners to create free infographics using among other things, excel spreadsheets to upload data into various types of visually appealing graphs. Google SketchupSketchUp has been around for years, but it keeps improving and is pretty much open-ended in its ability to graphically display anything you want. Planners can use SketchUp and the model warehouse to communicate plans, ideas, and outcomes to their audiences.
