Starting Range: $72,000 – $116,000
City of Johnson City, Tennessee, with a population of 65,000, is the fourth largest city in Tennessee, invites résumés and applications for the position of Development Services Director. The Director will be responsible for the overall department direction, efficient management and coordination of the City’s municipal planning, community development, zoning administration and building code functions. The Department is comprised of 21 employees who are organized into four (4) divisions: Planning, Codes, Community Development, and the Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization. The annual operating budget of Development Services in FY 2018 is $1.6 million.
Successful candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. A master’s degree and AICP professional certification designation are preferred. Applicants should have a minimum of eight years related experience and/or training in planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience including considerable management experience.
